Karachi - Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) has formed the Domestic Workers’ Trade Union, the very first union of its kind in Pakistan. The ‘Domestic Workers’ Union’ has been registered with the Office of the Registrar Trade Unions, Lahore under the provisions of the Punjab Industrial Relations, 2010. The Union currently has 235 members out of which 225 are female domestic workers. PWF is now in the process registering the Union with the global ‘International Domestic Workers’ Federation’.


ILO supporting TEVT System to align with Labour Market Demand

Lahore, 24 December 2012: “TEVT system in Pakistan is being aligned with the demands of Labour Market as well as that of the Employers expectations. ILO is supporting relevant authorities in this regard. Among a range of activities, one most important is the training of TEVT Principles & Managers on ‘Management of Training Institutions (MoTI)’ – which is a 6-day course specially designed to enable TEVT Institutes to upgrade its training quality and ensure its relevance with labour market demand.
