Swiss Embassy, ADB sign agreement to support National Disaster Risk Management Fund

Islamabad,16 July 2018: The Embassy of Switzerland in Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed an agreement on Monday to support the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF), recently established by the Government of Pakistan to finance investments in disaster risk reduction and preparedness that have high economic impact.

A twenty member team of the Pakistan Cricket Association for the Physically Handicapped (PCAPH), visited Switzerland from 10-17 September, 2014 and played five friendly matches with various local cricket clubs in Geneva, Vaud and Berne.


Switzerland recognized the independence of Pakistan when it was proclaimed in 1947. Diplomatic relations were begun in 1949. In 1966 the two countries signed a technical cooperation agreement, supplemented in 1975 by an agreement on disaster relief. After Pakistan had been designated a priority country for development cooperation, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) opened a Cooperation Office in Islamabad, in 1977.
